About The Position

The Senior Fire Sprinkler System Designer will be responsible for designing sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications. This role involves participating in the review process with other design team members and drafters, creating detailed drawings using CAD software, and performing hydraulic calculations. The designer will ensure all designs meet quality standards and code requirements, follow company policies, and work independently or lead a team. Collaboration with sales and project managers is key to ensure efficient and high-quality designs. The position also involves assisting management in developing quality service programs and advising drafters to meet their goals.

Requirements

  • Five years of sprinkler system layout and hydraulic calculation experience.
  • NICET level III in water-based systems layout.
  • Ability to create detailed drawings using a CAD software.
  • Experience with fire sprinkler industry design software.
  • Ability to read fire sprinkler system design drawings.
  • Proficient in NFPA 13, 14, 20 & 24 code requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire sprinkler project drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills; and the ability to multi-task.
  • Working understanding of fire sprinkler design.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Able to pass background check.

Responsibilities

  • Design sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications.
  • Participate in the review process with other design team members and drafters, as requested by management.
  • Create detailed drawings using CAD software (such as AutoSprink, HydraCAD, etc) and perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Review all designs before submitting for approval to ensure they meet Sciens quality standard and code requirements.
  • Follow all Sciens policies and procedures during daily work activities.
  • Work independently and lead a team to complete all tasks and related design functions.
  • Routinely work with sales and project managers to ensure the most efficient design while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Assist and provide feedback to the sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
  • Assist management in developing and implementing a quality service program to increase efficiency and proficiencies for the design and engineering department.
  • Assist management by advising drafters to ensure that their goals and objectives are met.
  • Ensure design complies with applicable codes and AHJ requirements.
