About The Position

The ideal candidate to fill this position is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer that is proficient and confident in their abilities as a fire protection engineer (FPE), especially with experience in industrial, mission critical, federal and data center project types. This person would be a Technical discipline leader of multiple projects, focused on mentoring junior engineering/design staff, and work with an internal MEP/FP team to deliver projects that meet the objectives of the client. Business acumen is also important by way of understanding how to strategically navigate complex problems with clients and keep them satisfied so as to create opportunities for repeat work. While the focus of this role will generally be technical leadership on high profile projects and mentorship of fire protection staff, there may be activities to support other managers and business units within the overall Salas O’Brien organization in developing an action plan to solicit and secure new work, implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the Nashville office, identifying prospective markets and clients, etc.

Requirements

  • Expertise in application of all applicable NFPA, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs) and Building (IBC, SBC, etc.) codes/standards
  • Natural mentorship and training mindset
  • Proficient in implementing high resiliency designs for mission critical infrastructure projects
  • Experience with Revit
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential for team-based projects
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills required for overlapping project schedules and managing multiple concurrent projects
  • 10+ Years Experience in Design/Consulting/Construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering or similar ABET Accredited program
  • Registered Professional Engineering (FPE) license required
  • Willing to Travel (<20%)

Responsibilities
