About The Position

The Senior FinOps Analyst establishes and operates a comprehensive Cloud and SaaS Financial Management (FinOps) practice across HealthEdge’s multi-cloud and SaaS ecosystem, including enterprise SaaS and AI platforms. The role partners with Cloud Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Procurement, Security, and product teams to make cloud and SaaS consumption cost-efficient, well-governed, transparent, and aligned with business priorities. This includes supporting migration from on-premises, Azure, and GCP environments toward AWS, as well as ongoing operations after migration. The position develops the FinOps operating model, cost visibility and reporting, unit economics, optimization and anomaly-management processes, forecasts, chargeback/showback support, tagging and governance standards, and FinOps tooling and automation. It also collaborates with technical teams, Finance, Procurement, and vendors to improve cost management and communicate actionable financial insights. The role is remote in the United States and may require travel depending on company needs.

Requirements

At least 5–7 years of related experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or IT financial analysis, including hands-on cloud cost reporting, allocation, and optimization in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Deep familiarity with cloud cost and usage data and SQL-based billing analysis, preferably on AWS.
Strong exploratory data analysis skills, including independently investigating anomalies, identifying cost drivers, and answering ad hoc spend questions.
Experience supporting data center exit and cloud migration programs, and understanding of migration financial impacts and hybrid cost models spanning on-premises, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS subscriptions.
Experience in a FinOps role at a B2B SaaS company with a multi-tenant architecture, including attribution of shared infrastructure costs to customers or product features.
Experience establishing tagging, chargeback/showback, and cost allocation models across cloud and SaaS ecosystems, using BI tools such as AWS QuickSight, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
Strong spreadsheet skills, including building forecasting models in Excel or Google Sheets.
Strong knowledge of cloud billing, pricing models, and cost management tools, and familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP savings mechanisms such as Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts, Reserved Instances, and Spot Instances.
Demonstrated ownership of forecasting, governance, and optimization, beyond reporting alone.
Experience with AI-assisted analysis or reporting workflows, such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot, and familiarity tracking AI/LLM token usage and spend.
Excellent communication skills, including translating technical cloud usage into financial insights for executive audiences and influencing without direct authority.
Detail-oriented, self-directed, and curious about how engineering decisions affect costs.
Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced, newly formed function.
Treats cost data with rigor and accuracy expected of production systems; raises cost risks early.
Collaborates across teams, builds trust, accepts feedback, continues learning, and communicates findings so they drive action.

Nice To Haves

FinOps Foundation Practitioner or Professional certification.
AWS Cloud Practitioner or Associate-level certification.
Experience writing SQL or using scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell to query and process cloud billing data at scale.
Experience managing SaaS cost governance for enterprise platforms comparable to Splunk, Dynatrace, or Salesforce.
Background in healthcare IT, health plan administration, financial services, or another regulated industry.
Experience establishing a FinOps practice or chargeback program from scratch in an organization that previously lacked cloud cost visibility.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and how IaC pipelines relate to cloud resource provisioning and cost attribution.

Responsibilities

Establish and mature the FinOps operating model across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and implement cost governance standards across AWS, Azure, GCP, and enterprise SaaS platforms.
Partner with engineering and architecture teams to incorporate cost considerations into design and migration decisions, and maintain FinOps playbooks, policies, and dashboards.
Build spend-visibility dashboards by product, feature, tenant/client, and team, and produce and deliver cloud cost reports across business units and environments.
Make cloud and AI billing data available in analytics and reporting tools, with automated exports to finance systems.
Develop unit economics, including cost per customer, operation, API request, and AI token usage, and create defensible allocation logic for multi-tenant costs.
Identify and quantify cloud cost optimization opportunities, including right-sizing compute, identifying idle or abandoned resources, and selecting appropriate service tiers.
Manage Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, committed use discounts, and SaaS contract utilization; monitor utilization and coverage, and recommend purchases, exchanges, and actions around expirations.
Define spend alarms based on budgets and forecasts, and investigate anomalies through root cause and resolution.
Identify process improvements that increase cost transparency.
Build cloud and SaaS spend forecasts incorporating sales forecasts, product roadmap initiatives, and migration and modernization waves; provide executive reporting on spend, trends, and realized savings.
Support Finance-led chargeback and showback by maintaining clean, accurate, well-tagged cost data and identifying data discrepancies.
Own the cloud tagging taxonomy and compliance program, including standards, enforcement monitoring, and remediation with engineering teams.
Partner with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Vendor Management on financial controls and support audits with billing and subscription documentation.
Administer and improve FinOps tools, developing platform fluency and capability.
Adopt AI tooling to automate reporting and anomaly triage and accelerate optimization analysis.
Partner with engineering teams, platform pillar leads, and Finance through regular cost reviews, fostering collaborative FinOps practices.
Collaborate with Procurement and Vendor Management on cloud and SaaS commercial agreements and serve as the FinOps point of contact across Technology, Finance, and vendors.
