The FinOps Analyst is responsible for establishing and operating a comprehensive Cloud and SaaS Financial Management (FinOps) practice across HealthEdge's multi-cloud and SaaS ecosystem, alongside key enterprise SaaS and AI platforms. This role partners closely with Cloud Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Procurement, Security, and product teams to ensure cloud and SaaS consumption is cost-efficient, well-governed, transparent, and aligned to business priorities, both during the ongoing migration off on-premises, Azure, and GCP environments toward AWS, and throughout steady-state operation afterward. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical rigor with genuine curiosity about cloud infrastructure, and is comfortable operating at the intersection of finance and engineering in a newly-formed function.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or IT financial analysis, including hands-on experience with cloud cost reporting, allocation, and optimization in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep familiarity with cost and usage data and SQL-based billing analysis, preferably on AWS; strong exploratory data analysis skills able to independently investigate anomalies, identify cost drivers, and answer ad hoc questions on spend.
  • Experience supporting data center exit and cloud migration programs, and a strong understanding of cloud migration financial impacts and hybrid cost models spanning on-prem, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS subscriptions.
  • Experience in a FinOps role at a B2B SaaS company with a multi-tenant architecture, including familiarity with attributing shared infrastructure costs to specific customers or product features.
  • Proven experience establishing tagging, chargeback/showback, and cost allocation models across cloud and SaaS ecosystems, using BI tooling such as AWS QuickSight, Tableau, Looker, or similar.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, including the ability to build forecasting models in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud billing, pricing models, and cost management tools and familiarity with AWS/Azure/GCP savings mechanisms - Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts, Reserved Instances, Spot Instances, and similar.
  • Demonstrated ownership across forecasting, governance, and optimization - not just reporting.
  • Experience with AI-assisted analysis or reporting workflows (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot), and familiarity tracking AI/LLM token usage and spend as its own cost category.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical cloud usage into financial insights for executive audiences and to influence without direct authority.
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and genuinely curious about how engineering decisions translate into cost.

Nice To Haves

  • FinOps Foundation Practitioner or Professional certification.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or Associate-level certification.
  • Experience writing SQL or using scripting (Python, PowerShell) to query and process cloud billing data at scale.
  • Experience managing SaaS cost governance for enterprise platforms comparable to Splunk, Dynatrace, or Salesforce.
  • Background in healthcare IT, health plan administration, financial services, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience standing up a FinOps practice or chargeback program from scratch in an organization that previously lacked cloud cost visibility.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and how IaC pipelines relate to cloud resource provisioning and cost attribution.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and mature the FinOps operating model across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, implementing cost governance standards across AWS, Azure, GCP, and enterprise SaaS platforms.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to build cost considerations into design and migration decisions, and maintain the FinOps playbooks, policies, and dashboards that drive continuous improvement.
  • Build spend visibility dashboards broken down by product, product feature, tenant/client, and team - not just aggregate business-unit totals - and own the production and delivery of cloud cost reports across all HealthEdge business units and environments.
  • Make cloud and AI spend billing data available in analytics and reporting tools, with automated export to finance systems.
  • Build unit economics capabilities - cost per customer, per operation, per API request, AI token usage - and work through the multi-tenant attribution challenge across product lines with defensible allocation logic.
  • Make sure visibility is never the bottleneck - cost that isn't visible can't be managed.
  • Continuously identify and quantify cost optimization opportunities across cloud vendors using cloud-native tools and Adaptive 6 - right-sizing compute, identifying idle or abandoned resources, and selecting the right service tier
  • Track and manage HealthEdge's portfolio of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and committed use discounts across cloud vendors, monitoring utilization, identifying coverage gaps, and making recommendations on purchases, exchanges, and expirations, and track SaaS contract utilization against commitments.
  • Define spend alarms based on budgets and forecasts, and own anomaly investigations from detection through root cause and resolution so surprises are caught early, not at month-end.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance cost transparency.
  • Build cloud and SaaS spend forecasts that incorporate sales forecasts, product roadmap initiatives, and migration/modernization waves, and deliver executive-level reporting on spend, trends, and savings realized.
  • Support Finance-led chargeback and showback with clean, accurate, well-tagged cost data, owning data quality and flagging discrepancies before they become Finance's problem.
  • Own the cloud tagging taxonomy and compliance program - defining standards, monitoring enforcement, and remediating gaps with engineering teams - the foundation that makes everything else in FinOps possible.
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Vendor Management to extend financial controls across cloud and SaaS, and support audits with billing and subscription documentation.
  • Administer and continuously improve the FinOps tooling stack, developing platform fluency quickly rather than just consuming what's already configured.
  • Actively adopt AI tooling to automate reporting and anomaly triage and accelerate optimization analysis - AI adoption is a team-wide expectation at HealthEdge, not a voluntary experiment.
  • Partner with engineering teams, platform pillar leads, and Finance through regular cost reviews, building the relationships that make FinOps a collaborative practice rather than a policing function.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Vendor Management on cloud and SaaS commercial agreements, serving as the key FinOps point of contact across Technology, Finance, and vendors.
