About The Position

The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant (SFRA) is a key member of the Financial Operations team. This role offers a unique blend of business partnership, technical accounting and financial reporting. It focuses on the accounting close related to the company’s software capitalization efforts. As the primary finance liaison for software capitalization, the SFRA collaborates closely with IT business partners to ensure accurate accounting, reporting and recording of capitalizable software costs in the financial statements. The SFRA also performs technical accounting research and prepares documentation on a variety of accounting topics. In addition, the SFRA performs the accounting, recording, and reporting of operating and finance leases. This role also plays an active part in the monthly close process, including accounting for prepaid assets and fixed assets. The SFRA may also perform operating expense allocations, prepare and review cash reconciliations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting requirements, along with an ability and desire to take on complex tasks and build strong relationships with business partners. Requirements

  • A BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting, finance, audit, financial reporting or related experience
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively across teams, interact with diverse personality styles, and build strong business partnerships.
  • Experience researching, interpreting, and documenting accounting matters under both GAAP and STAT accounting standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently manage assignments, exercise sound judgment, provide subject matter expertise, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented, with a track record of driving initiatives to completion, exceeding expectations, adapting to changing priorities, maintaining exceptional attention to detail, and working a flexible schedule as business needs arise.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • experience with Lawson, Hyperion is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting and reporting activities related to software capitalization, including evaluating project agreements and determining appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Perform technical accounting research and prepare documentation on GAAP & Statutory accounting requirements.
  • Serve as the primary finance contact for IT capitalization projects by building strong relationships with IT project teams, business partners, and FP&A.
  • Prepare lease-related journal entries, maintain lease accounting schedules, and support the accounting treatment and implementation of new lease agreements and modifications.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and all assigned month-end activities.
  • Perform accounting, reporting, and analysis related to fixed assets and prepaid assets.
  • Prepare and review operating cash reconciliations.
  • Support other functions and responsibilities of the department.
