This role provides corporate financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and control services to support the City's capital budgeting and monitoring processes. The Senior Financial Planning Analyst will monitor and analyze capital budget performance, prepare variance reports and memos, and conduct various analyses on the City's capital budget, including funding sources, targets, debt service costs, and major project status. The position also contributes to training materials, supports financial management training, and prepares reports and presentations for senior management and Committees of Council. Key responsibilities include managing capital budget adjustments, providing business analysis support, participating in special projects, and contributing to media releases and background information. The role requires staying updated on corporate strategies, provincial legislation, and providing senior-level counsel in the budget review process. Additionally, the analyst will support the testing of capital budgeting systems, respond to inquiries, participate in special project teams, research best practices, represent the division in external discussions, and foster cooperative working relationships.
