About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely accounting entries, reviewing accounting transactions, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and contributing to process improvements. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing financial results, and supporting financial statement preparation. Additionally, the Senior Financial Analyst will participate in audit activities, assist with tax compliance, and ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting standards. The position also includes conducting research on accounting standards, preparing subsidiary financial statements and tax filings, and supporting ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis and accounting.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real estate and vehicle lease accounting (ROU assets and liabilities).
  • Experience with corporate tax compliance and indirect tax filings.
  • Familiarity with Statistics Canada reporting.

  • CPA or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely accounting entries to support the financial close process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Review accounting transactions related to real estate and vehicle lease arrangements (ROU assets and liabilities) and perform monthly variance analysis against budget.
  • Work closely with the Real Estate and Vehicle teams to process rent payments and provide financial support and guidance as required.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts (e.g., ROU assets and liabilities, accrued fringe benefits, and other liability accounts), investigating variances and proactively resolving issues.
  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control within financial workflows.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting packages and board report packages.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Supply Chain) to gather data, validate assumptions, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision‑making and operational performance improvement.
  • Participate in internal and external audit activities, including preparing audit support, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring completeness and accuracy of documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of working papers for corporate tax compliance, including completion of payment requisitions and tax instalments.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and corporate policies.
  • Conduct research on accounting standards, tax related topics and technical accounting issues; assess appropriate treatment under US GAAP and communicate implications and recommendations to the Finance team.
  • Prepare monthly accounting, indirect tax filings, and financial statements for subsidiaries of the parent company.
  • Prepare all quarterly and annual Statistics Canada reporting and filings.
  • Support ad‑hoc financial analysis, special projects, and strategic initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.
  • Ensure the Manager is informed of significant accounting matters, risks, and issues in a timely and transparent manner.
