About The Position

Dauch is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team in Detroit, MI. The Senior Financial Analyst leads the organization's accounting activities, including financial record keeping and reporting. They maintain records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. They also create reports on financial performance for internal and external use. This person is responsible for completing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management, and tax, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities. They will also support and assist junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, manufacturing finance experience, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership. Preferred qualifications include automotive supplier experience (Tier 1 or Tier 2) and experience supporting multiple plants or global operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, ideally within manufacturing or automotive supply base.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing finance principles.
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred; Oracle or similar acceptable).

Responsibilities

  • Leads monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning processes for assigned plants or programs.
  • Analyzes actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior year; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepares and presents clear financial summaries and variance explanations to plant and executive leadership.
  • Analyzes material, labor, overhead, and capital spending to support cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with Operations to understand production drivers, efficiency metrics, scrap, rework, and absorption impacts.
  • Supports standard cost development, annual cost roll-ups, and ongoing cost accuracy.
  • Supports new business quotes, including cost modeling, pricing structure, and profitability analysis.
  • Tracks financial performance of major programs across the product lifecycle (launch through steady state).
  • Monitors customer pricing, volume assumptions, and commercial agreements to ensure financial alignment.
  • Develops and maintains financial models, dashboards, and KPIs to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX requirements (if applicable).
  • Supports month-end close activities in collaboration with accounting (accruals, analysis, explanations).
  • Acts as a trusted finance partner to cross-functional teams, providing financial insight and challenge where needed.
  • Drives continuous improvement in financial processes, tools, and analytical methods.
  • Mentors or supports junior analysts as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
