About The Position

Mozilla Finance is responsible for strategic resource allocation, overseeing day-to-day financial operations as we scale our mission impact with new and existing products, technology, and business models. Core Services brings together the functions Mozilla runs on: Legal, People, Data Science, Trust & Safety / Customer Experience, Strategy, IT, Cloud Engineering & Ecosystems, and Security - teams supporting every part of the Company. We are seeking a detail-driven Senior Financial Analyst, Core Services to execute the recurring planning, reporting, and analysis that supports this portfolio. This role will be responsible for preparing the forecast, reconciling actuals through close, maintaining headcount and vendor tracking, and producing the reporting that reaches budget owners and the COO. This role reports to the Finance Manager, Core Services, who leads business partnership with the functional leaders, and works closely with teams across the organization. To succeed, you will need to work accurately across a broad portfolio, translate variances into explanations a non-finance audience can act on, and balance competing cycle deadlines with outstanding attention to detail. This position requires a resourceful self-starter who takes recurring processes from start to finish and improves them along the way.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in business unit FP&A, corporate FP&A, strategic finance, or a comparable analytical finance role, including hands-on work through a full budget and forecast cycle with close and variance analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling skills. You care about formula cleanliness, auditability, and accuracy.
  • Experience with enterprise planning tools (Pigment, Adaptive, Workday, etc.) and accounting systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Grounding in accounting fundamentals, including accruals and the monthly close cycle.
  • Enough familiarity with cloud cost or FinOps concepts to interpret reporting prepared by a technical team and question what looks off.
  • Interest in applying AI, automation, and systems thinking to reduce manual effort in recurring finance work.
  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and cycle deadlines without loss of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain a variance concisely to a non-finance audience.
  • Ability to work across functions, distilling detail into structured summaries that leaders can act on.
  • Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and ability to learn quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting technical or G&A functions in a shared-services finance environment, where the internal team is the customer.
  • Experience building automations or AI-assisted workflows within a Finance context — or the drive and resourcefulness to learn.
  • Experience with BI tools, SQL, Python, Power Query, or other data querying and programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the Core Services forecast each cycle. Build and load cost center detail in Pigment, validate inputs, reconcile against the prior cycle, and document what moved along with the drivers behind it.
  • Assemble the monthly budget update. Prepare variance to plan, drivers, and open items for budget owners and the COO, ready for the Finance Manager to carry into leader conversations.
  • Partner with Accounting through monthly close. Tie out actuals, accruals, and forecast, and resolve coding and timing issues at the source rather than correcting for them downstream.
  • Maintain headcount tracking. Keep position-level tracking and the headcount-to-plan bridge current, coordinating with People and hiring managers on start dates and backfill assumptions.
  • Track vendor and cloud spend. Monitor POs, commitments, renewals, and run-rate changes across the group. Take in cloud cost information prepared by the Cloud Engineering team, carry it into Core Services and consolidated Company reporting, and review it for anomalies and initial questions.
  • Apply AI and automation to recurring work. Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort across the forecast, close, and reporting cycle, improving the speed and reliability of what the team produces. Experiment with tools and share what works.
  • Support Core Services teams day to day. Field data and reporting questions directly, escalating items that call for a partnership discussion.
