About The Position

The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for performing a broad range of financial planning and analytical functions, including short and long-term financial projections, extensive financial modeling, deal model valuations, capital and operating budgeting and cash flow forecasting, and credit facility management. This role involves creating, updating, and owning deal models in concert with the Business Development team and Investment Committee, requiring strong familiarity with valuation metrics (e.g., IRR, MOIC, NPV, etc.). The analyst will build, maintain, and adjust various financial models and standard templates for distribution within the Finance department and for use by internal clients during the deal modeling stages, ensuring quality, accuracy, and a focused analytic review. Key responsibilities include analyzing trends in revenues, costs, and earnings for all profit centers, lines of businesses, and clients, and developing data visualizations primarily using Excel and PowerPoint to share insights with stakeholders. The position supports the Manager, Strategic Finance in updating rolling financial forecasts and preparing the company’s annual budget. Additional duties include coordination and preparation of monthly, quarterly, or annual credit reporting requirements, monitoring debt financing and common debt metrics (e.g., leverage ratio, DSCR, etc.), and coordinating and preparing earnings and cash flow forecasts. The role also involves preparing monthly earnings and financial results and analysis for presentation to management and external stakeholders, preparing quarterly earnings reports for board meetings, and coordinating the annual budgeting process with associated reports. Significant data extraction, ad-hoc reporting, project-based analysis, and what-if analysis are expected. The analyst must maintain confidentiality, demonstrate an understanding of GAAP and three-statement models, identify and solve non-value-added processes, and participate in assessing investment projects using capital budgeting techniques. The role requires assessing the company’s current asset status, future needs, and investment goals, and providing analytical rigor and strategic ideas to the business's growth, revenue, and cost drivers. In-depth market analysis of customers and competitors, and preparation of various memorandums and presentations are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years of applicable work experience in accounting or finance position; a thorough understanding of general accepted accounting principles
  • Highly proficient user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Knowledge and experience with an enterprise ERP system
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
  • Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion
  • Demonstrate an appropriate understanding/working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and three-statement models.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration and/or CFA
  • Prefer related experience in private equity or a startup, emerging growth, or private equity funded business.
  • Prior M&A and debt financing experience.
