About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst combines financial stewardship with operational business partnership, supporting the Toromont Material Handling management team. This role provides key financial and operational insights to support decision-making, drive profitability, and improve business performance across one of TMH's core business portfolios. Depending on business needs, the successful candidate will support either: Equipment & Rental Operations, including New Equipment, Used Equipment, and Rental; or Parts & Service Operations, including Parts Sales and Service. The role partners closely with operational leaders to analyze performance, support planning activities, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver meaningful financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, Accounting, or Business Analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong business partnering and relationship-building skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or active CPA enrollment is considered an asset.
  • Experience with BI tools, reporting automation, and ERP systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly KPI packages, management reports, and business performance dashboards.
  • Support monthly close activities, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Analyze branch, customer, product line, and operational performance.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve financial results and business performance.
  • Assist management with ad hoc analysis and business case evaluations.
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance forecasting models and business-driver assumptions.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support long-range planning and financial modeling initiatives.
  • Deliver financial and operational reporting for assigned business portfolio.
  • Perform margin analysis, profitability reviews, and trend analysis.
  • Support pricing, profitability, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify business improvement opportunities and measure outcomes.
  • Analyze equipment sales margins and profitability.
  • Monitor rental productivity, fleet utilization, and fleet performance metrics.
  • Track fleet depreciation trends and used equipment disposition results.
  • Support reporting for New Equipment, Used Equipment, and Rental operations.
  • Analyze parts and service margins and profitability.
  • Track Work-in-Progress (WIP) levels and service performance indicators.
  • Monitor technician productivity and operational efficiency metrics.
  • Support reporting for Parts and Service operations.
  • Support development of dashboards, reporting automation, and analytical tools.
  • Improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and data quality.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial and operational reporting processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and system enhancement initiatives.
