About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst role is a member of the Transformation Finance team and will support both the Controller, Transformation and the Senior Finance Manager, Transformation. The Alcoa Transformation group is responsible for Alcoa’s closed sites around the globe where they are responsible for the demolition, remediation and redevelopment of these sites. The Senior Financial Analyst role will be responsible for managing the financial processes for approximately 10-20 US Transformation locations and the Transformation HQ, including monthly book closures, P/L and balance sheet variance analysis, account reconciliations, and ensuring accruals are recorded monthly. This role will also complete the monthly forecast process accurately and timely for these locations, including conducting monthly meetings with location managers to discuss financial results and impacts on forecast. Additionally, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with the coordination and analysis of the Annual Planning process for the Global Transformation organization, lead the financial closing, forecasting and reporting process for the Alcoa Corporate offices, and support the financial processes and reporting for Transformation’s Environmental reserve liabilities. This includes ensuring legacy spend is recorded accurately, serving as the global lead for international and non-legacy projects, and completing monthly, quarterly, and annual rollforwards and reporting requirements for environmental reserve liabilities. The role also supports the quarterly annual location review process, develops and manages the process around closure estimates, and participates in special projects as assigned, including support on Transformation transactions and portfolio changes. The analyst is expected to show initiative to evaluate BU’s financial data and recommend actions to improve results, developing concise presentations to communicate these opportunities.

Requirements

  • Financial Accounting experience of 7 years or more
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint required

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with Oracle, Orbit, Connected Planning preferred
  • Experience with Asset Retirement Obligations, Environmental Reserves, Closure estimating is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial processes for approximately 10-20 US Transformation locations and the Transformation HQ
  • Efficiently, accurately and timely manage the closure of the location books each month in accordance with Alcoa closing processes and standards
  • Conduct monthly p/l and balance sheet variance analysis to understand deviations from forecast and other required scenarios
  • Complete timely reconciliations of all required accounts and ensuring any variance are addressed according to Alcoa standards
  • Ensure accruals are recorded monthly in accordance with Alcoa standard
  • Complete the monthly forecast process accurately and timely in accordance with Alcoa forecasting processes and standards for 10-20 US Transformation locations
  • Conducting monthly meetings with location managers to ensure an understanding of monthly financial results, activities at the site and impact on forecast (EBITDA and free cash flow) and communicate BU and Alcoa expectations
  • Ensure monthly forecast variances are communicated and documented in accordance with Alcoa Transformation processes
  • Assist with the coordination and analysis of the Annual Planning process for the Global Transformation organization
  • Develop and maintain templates for the collection of the Annual Plan data to coordinate input into the financial system and development of deliverables to communicate overall plan objectives to the Transformation Controller and Transformation leadership
  • Ensure annual plan is completed for 10-20 US Transformation locations and the Transformation HQ
  • Lead the financial closing, forecasting and reporting process for the Alcoa Corporate offices
  • Support the financial processes and reporting for Transformation’s Environmental reserve liabilities
  • Ensure that monthly legacy spend is recorded and booked accurately against the correct reserve project
  • Serve as the global lead on the international and non-legacy projects to ensure that project spend is being recorded in accordance with Alcoa and Transformation standards and that the reserve reflects proper period activity and the split between current and noncurrent
  • Complete the monthly, quarterly and annual rollforwards and reporting requirements for Alcoa’s environmental reserve liabilities
  • Support the quarterly annual location review process for Alcoa Transformation sites
  • Develop and manage the process around closure estimates
  • Participate and lead special projects as assigned by the Transformation Controller including support on Transformation transactions and portfolio changes
  • Shows initiative to evaluate BU’s financial data and recommend actions to improve results and develop concise presentations to communicate these opportunities
