About The Position

nLIGHT is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its corporate finance team and support manufacturing operations as the business meets high demand and grows. This is a highly visible role with growth potential, focused on connecting operational activity to financial performance rather than solely producing reports. The analyst will partner with leaders across the business, translate complex data into actionable recommendations, and gain exposure to operations, product management, accounting, and executive leadership. The position is suited to someone who is curious, proactive, collaborative, and energized by solving complex business problems and implementing improvements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
At least 6 years of work experience in finance or accounting.
Strong understanding of financial statements.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and BI tools.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across functions and manage multiple priorities.
High level of integrity, ownership, and willingness to learn.
Must be a US Person (US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual granted asylum or refugee status) to qualify under US Export Control regulations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in standard-costing or cost-accounting environments.

Responsibilities

Build financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate business decisions, investment opportunities, and alternative business outlooks; identify trends, risks, and opportunities and provide recommendations.
Partner with operations, accounting, product management, and business leaders to explain financial performance, identify underlying drivers, challenge assumptions, and support decision-making.
Work with budget owners to develop, maintain, and improve forecasts for capacity, hiring, spending, inventory, capital, and working-capital requirements; document assumptions, explain variances, evaluate risks and opportunities, and recommend actions.
Design and automate reporting and analytics solutions for operational teams through executive leadership, creating clear insights that improve visibility, accelerate action, and reduce manual effort.
Develop subject-matter expertise in forecasting and financial analysis tools, data, and processes; identify gaps, improve functionality, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.
Independently identify, lead, and manage projects from problem definition and analysis through recommendations, implementation, and results tracking; coordinate stakeholders and communicate progress, decisions, risks, and outcomes.
Build cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, and other business functions, combining financial and operational perspectives to solve problems and support initiatives.
