About The Position

The Timberlands Senior Finance Analyst will support Weyerhaeuser's Western Timberlands Business and the Finance and Planning organization by assisting in the Western Timberlands budgeting and forecasting processes, developing Timberlands financial reports and metrics, supporting business partners in operational decision-making through financial analysis, and supporting Operational Excellence initiatives in collaboration with corporate and business partners to improve the financial results of our Timberlands Operations. The Timberlands Senior Finance Analyst is an integral part of Weyerhaeuser’s Timberlands Finance group, which is responsible for financial planning and analysis on behalf of our Western Timberland operations located across 3 million acres. The position is primarily located at our Timberlands office in Castle Rock, WA, and will support our Western Timberlands Regions and the Harvesting, Engineering, and Forestry functions. While the role is primarily based in the Castle Rock, WA office, this role will be expected to routinely work in the nearby Longview, WA office as well. There will also be occasional travel to other Weyerhaeuser offices for business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or Forestry
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, finance, forestry, or similar fields
  • Expert in Excel
  • Experience with financial planning, general ledger and reporting applications and systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Hyperion/EPM)
  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of critical financial concepts, including experience interpreting a P&L, communicating accounting and audit standards, and understanding net present value and internal rate of return
  • Team player and individual contributor, willing to do even the most basic task if it helps the team get the job done
  • Ability to produce high-quality work for senior leaders on tight deadlines
  • Proactively look for ways to improve accuracy, drive efficiency and support others without being asked
  • Ability to build strong relationships and partner with subject matter experts across multiple functions to deliver best-in-class results

Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes through frontline meetings with business partners, critical thinking, and consolidation and analysis of information across Western Timberlands.
  • Develop and support Timberlands KPI’s, financial reports, and analysis tools that drive improved decision making and operational excellence.
  • Champion data driven analysis within the organization by using empirical evidence and critical thinking to ask key business questions and improve business performance.
  • Enhance the insights and timeliness of financial analysis through innovation and process improvement.
  • Help maintain and govern standard financial internal controls across the Western Timberlands business to eliminate the opportunity for fraud.
  • Collaborate across departments including HR, legal, accounting and information technology to identify and implement systems improvements to increase the efficiency of financial processes across the business segment.
  • Other projects in support of the Western Timberlands Finance team.
