About The Position

Serve as a key resource for accounting policy implementation, analysis and facilitate the annual planning and quarterly variance analysis process for the organization. Analyze financial statements and general ledger accounts, interpretation, and application of financial information, make recommendations on how to lower costs, improve revenue, and company forecasts to predict where the company will be going if things continue in their current state.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Ability to complete responsibilities with minimum direction
  • Complete knowledge of accounting methods used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in a computerized double entry accrual system
  • Experience with automated financial planning and analysis software
  • Ability to follow transactions from initial to final action and determine correctness of action required
  • Ability to determine necessary journal entries and preparation of those entries
  • Ability to trace discrepancies and determine appropriate actions
  • Ability to apply GAAP consistently
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High level of proficiency using various spreadsheet applications
  • Minimum of five years progressive experience in accounting

Responsibilities

  • Design, prepare, and interpret financial and statistical reports and charts for management reporting and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly and annual forecast/plan financials.
  • Review and analyze actual vs. forecast/plan variances.
  • Review and investigate the company's accounting transactions to enhance internal control.
  • Create monthly profitability reports.
  • Analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts, providing key business and financial guidance to the organization in an executive summary fashion.
  • Monitor current and past financial data and performance.
  • Establish key performance metrics; highlight trends and gaps then facilitate actions to address them.
  • Analyzing productivity, manufacturing costs, and yields to provide actionable data to CFO/Controller.
  • Identifying cost saving opportunities, communicating them to executives, and tracking progress to planned reductions.
  • Develop financial models through benchmarking and process analysis.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.
  • Prepare financial statements and IRS Form 990s for related organizations assuring IRS compliance.
  • Present financial reports to related organization's boards of directors and develop annual operating budgets with the boards of directors supporting investment manager relationships.
  • Manage the quarterly and monthly budget variance process.
  • Prepare and upload the budget for review and document revenue budget variances quarterly.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting standards in coordination with the company's external auditors and finance staff.
  • Prepare and present financial information at executive/leadership meetings.
  • Serve as a back-up signatory for checks and approval of wire transfers and payroll related payments.
  • Interact with different departments and directors to prepare financial analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficacy improvements.
  • Assist with the internal review of the annual audit documents in conjunction with the Controller and CFO.
  • Constrain and back-up Controller and CFO on key organization's responsibilities as needed (extended leave etc.).
  • Prepare monthly Financial Statements to include Comparative Balance Sheet, Revenue and Expense Statements, Statement of Cash Flow, Departmental Expense Statements and numerous other financial and operational schedules monthly.
  • Support activities related to year-end Financial Audit including preparation of audit work papers, analysis and determination of adjusting entries required, preparation of financial records for examination.
  • Support the administration of 401K employee benefit plan according to plan document.
  • Oversee audit activities.
  • Review tax return (form 5500).
  • Supervision of continuing activities such as enrollment of new participants, processing loan documents, processing deferrals, communication with employees and with trust company.
  • Oversee maintenance of software database.
