About The Position

Facilitate diverse financial analysis for a school/unit and assist department management with their financial planning efforts, budget analysis and monthly reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst supports the oversight and management of the day-to-day financial responsibilities of the organization including review of A/P, entering journals, reconciling expense charges, conducting analysis on both capital and operating budgets across all FAS Tubs, asset management, liaising with Campus Services and conducting monthly reporting. This position supports the Office of Physical Resources and Planning (OPRP) Finance Team by providing reporting and analysis as needed including quarterly closings, flux analysis, monthly budget to actuals and forecasting of O & M and capital projects, journals and lease payments. Will assist in creating and monitoring the $150M capital and $165M O&M budget by participating in the operating budget development process and loading into University & OPRP financial systems, capital projects approvals and reporting, financial and ad hoc analysis and reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst works with the Assistant Director to ensure departmental compliance with financial policies, procedures and controls requirements; enters journals and cost transfers, analyzes department budget and building operations budgets, reviews and codes expenditures and assists building managers in maintaining budgets and appropriately coding transactions. This position will also support financial management for new initiatives including a major renovation of the college houses, FAS Sustainability program and transitioning the department use of university systems such as Brio and B2P.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master's degree in relevant field preferred
  • Strong background and experience with construction project management, property budget oversight, higher education and non-profit management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis and financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience with financial systems and data query tools
  • Experience with general ledger and general accounting practices.
  • Strong, demonstrable Excel skills and hands-on experience with analysis and modeling (e.g., fully versed using pivot tables, VLOOKUP functionality, formulas etc.)
  • Collaborative working style with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data query tools (i.e. Smartview/ Brio). Experience with Oracle financial systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
