About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst – Manufacturing role leads financial planning and analysis for Component Consumable & Manufacturing and Technical Operations, partnering closely with Operations and Finance leaders to deliver timely, accurate insights. This role drives financial discipline and operational performance, requiring strong collaboration and influencing skills along with deep expertise in operations finance, cost accounting, inventory, variances, gross margin, US GAAP, and manufacturing processes. This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 2-3 in-office days per week and additional on-site presence as needed. The individual must reside in the San Diego area and be able to commute to our corporate offices.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in Operations Finance and Cost Accounting (preferred) with a Bachelor's degree
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP is preferred; exposure to Cognos TM1 is a plus
  • Successful track record of effectively interfacing with manufacturing personnel to identify, support, and execute on value-added ideas to improve profitability
  • Attention to details, strong analytical background as it pertains to understanding and explaining manufacturing variances
  • Ability to influence cross functionally and solve complex problems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; Must be comfortable working with and analyzing large data files

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing finance planning cycles, including quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, monthly variance reporting, and ongoing monitoring of departmental budget adherence.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports, reporting packages, and executive-level insights on manufacturing, cost performance, and operational trends.
  • Analyze financial results, manufacturing costs, purchase activity, work order variances, and project milestones to identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities for margin improvement.
  • Partner with manufacturing, site operations finance, corporate operations finance, and business leaders to support decision-making, investment analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and variance resolution.
  • Support standard cost setting, annual cost roll activities, inventory and cost accounting processes, and compliance with financial policies, procedures, US GAAP, and internal control requirements.
  • Interface with internal and external auditors and help maintain a strong control framework across manufacturing finance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement across operations finance processes, KPI reporting, forecast accuracy, and financial analytics to enable scalable and effective business support.
  • Perform other related duties as business needs require.
