About The Position

This role is at the center of strategic growth, partnering with a highly acquisitive Corporate Development team and collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Investor Relations, Capital Management, and Legal. The position drives Definity’s inorganic growth strategy across carriers, brokers, and new vertical markets, offering end-to-end deal exposure across the transaction lifecycle, including deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, investment materials, and integration support. The role also involves tracking industry trends and maintaining benchmarking tools to support executive decision-making, delivering insights through credit analysis, KPI reporting, and ad hoc requests from senior leadership. Definity completed over 10 acquisitions last year, including one of the largest P&C transactions in the industry.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related fields; experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or strategy preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or a related field with strong academic performance
  • Progress toward or completion of a CPA, CFA, or CBV designation
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting and the impact of business decisions on financial statements
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels, including senior executives
  • High degree of proficiency in English is required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services (insurance is an asset)
  • Experience with S&P Capital IQ and/or MSA is an asset
  • Flexibility to accommodate the demands of a transaction-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential acquisition targets and strategic initiatives for fit, risk, and value creation
  • Build and maintain complex financial models, including valuation, synergy analysis, and accretion/dilution
  • Support execution of acquisitions, financings, and divestitures across structuring, diligence, documentation, and integration
  • Monitor Canadian P&C industry trends; develop and maintain benchmarking databases and presentations
  • Perform credit analysis and covenant monitoring for broker investments
  • Mentor junior team members by providing guidance and technical support
  • Support broader corporate initiatives and strategic projects as required
