About The Position

The Capital Markets Accounting Team is responsible for the integrity and timeliness of the Capital Markets business units’ accounting and financial reporting. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Capital Markets Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst’s primary responsibility is to ensure the accuracy and validity of reported financial results for the supported Capital Markets line of business, in compliance with required accounting and control standards. The Senior Financial Analyst also plays an active role in transformational Finance activities and supports the related Capital Markets business on special projects and strategic initiatives. The Senior Financial Analyst will work with Front Office in Capital Markets, Capital Markets CFO team, Finance Product Control and various infrastructure groups (such as Operations, Risk, and Technology) to ensure the accuracy and completeness of Financial results for the business line under monitor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally focused on capital markets accounting.
  • Current accreditation and good standing in CPA or working towards your CPA designation.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of derivative instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Financial Reporting requirements for Financial Instruments.
  • Understanding of interest rate products, customized bonds, money markets, cross currency products, equity-linked derivatives, swaps, forwards, options, futures, and other vanilla and non-standard derivative transactions.
  • Critical, analytical thinking skills, and sound judgement.

Nice To Haves

  • CFA designation is an asset.
  • Public accounting firm experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equity derivatives.
  • Exposure to automation tools such as Alteryx, PowerAutomate or Tableau.

Responsibilities

  • Drive accurate, complete, and timely inputs to the various reporting groups.
  • Provide accounts attestation and ensure all balance sheet accounts are substantiated.
  • Inspire adherence to timing in Service Level Agreements and support the investigation and analysis of different methodologies by liaising with the Front Office, the CFO group, Accounting Policy, External Reporting, and Operations.
  • Support agile accounting processes and controls to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ensure changes in accounting policies/requirements are implemented in a controlled manner.
  • Maintain adequate end to end process maps and detailed task manuals in accordance with best practices, regulatory requirements, SOX, and Internal Controls.
