About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will support the company’s Business Development (“BD”) and Strategic Planning efforts. This position will support the Business Development team on the analysis and pro forma impacts of upstream deals including, but not limited to, asset acquisitions, corporate mergers, and divestitures for both operated and nonoperated opportunities. Additionally, this position will provide in depth analysis to our Midstream/Marketing, NonOp, New Ventures, and Business Transformation teams. These responsibilities will allow the candidate to interact with senior management of our various business units to impact the strategic direction of our company. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with investment banking or finance experience to work at a premier oil and gas operating company. This position will report to the Senior Director of Strategic Planning, and is located in Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience. Essential Job Functions Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture efforts by preparing strategic, economic, and valuation analyses (DCF, NAV, LBO, merger accretion / dilution, comps, etc.) of opportunities Use relative and absolute valuation methodologies to evaluate the economics of a transaction along with the potential tradeoffs Ability to quantify downside risks and upside opportunities to assess the risk/reward of a deal and the overall impact to company value Key contributor in entire deal evaluation and due diligence processes. Will need to work closely with engineers, geologists, land team, commercial team, and executives Scan public and proprietary data sources for operating metrics in select North American oil and gas basins to be used for M&A valuation purposes Provide modeling and strategic support to NonOp team to aide in strategy formation and deal evaluation Work closely with Marketing/Midstream teams to assess opportunities to build out key development infrastructure and analyze marketing contracts Support New Ventures and Business Transformation teams within the company by providing analysis on strategic initiatives and helping the groups understand and align to the company’s corporate objectives Effectively build presentations and communicate financial information to senior level executives Ability to think strategically about implications of allocating capital across different business units with a focus on maximizing the value of the company This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the position. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, or related field
  • 2 years investment banking or 5 years of finance preferably in oil and gas
  • Ability to build and maintain complex financial models and manage large amounts of data
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of the organization along with external advisors
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive tasks
  • Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills
  • Expert MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word user
  • Ability to take ownership of new tasks and problems and solve them with precision and thoughtfulness
  • Team player with intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, an innovative bent, and persistent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of finance experience or 2 years of investment banking
  • Oil and Gas experience, preferably in Upstream
  • Experience with technical tools such as Python, Aries, Enverus, Spotfire, and Enersight

Responsibilities
