About The Position

This position serves as a team leader within the Financial Aid & Scholarship (FAS) Office, manages quality assurance relating to financial aid verification and eligibility counseling and financial aid award packaging required for efficient and compliant administration of financial aid, and possesses a high level of expertise regarding federal, state, and institutional aid administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of financial aid administration and/or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial aid administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial aid policy & procedures and/or the ability to quickly assimilate.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various populations verbally and/or in writing.
  • Work well on a team or independently.
  • Strong leadership and diplomacy skills.
  • Develop & maintain effective working relationships.
  • Foster collaboration with colleagues and campus partners.
  • Maintain and continually develop knowledge of financial aid administration rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and best business practices.
  • As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a team lead within the Financial Aid & Scholarship (FAS) Office, responsible for managing quality assurance related to verification and eligibility counseling, professional judgment counseling, and financial aid award review.
  • Manages, monitors, and maintains quality controls related to financial aid award packaging for compliance, quality assurance, efficiency, and to ensure the best business practices.
  • Assists with office-wide quality controls and audits.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise regarding federal and state rules and regulations and institutional policy and procedures.
  • Provides expert level counseling and/or guidance to students, families, or external partners.
  • Provides training and guidance to team members, colleagues, and campus partners.
  • Monitors for federal, state, and industry updates and emerging trends.
  • Advises leadership team and develops best business practices.
  • Participates in financial aid outreach events.
