About The Position

The Senior Finance and Operations Manager will support J-PAL’s mission to efficiently translate research by J-PAL affiliates into actionable poverty alleviation policies around the world. The Senior Finance & Operations Manager will work under the supervision of the Finance Lead, serving as the financial and operational lead for a portfolio of up to three major initiatives at J-PAL. This role involves ensuring efficient operational management at J-PAL through a mix of financial operations, grants management, and leading organizational projects in the F&O area, all within a university environment. J-PAL is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty and fighting climate change by ensuring policy is informed by scientific evidence. It is anchored by a network of over 500 researchers worldwide and conducts innovative research and builds partnerships to address global challenges. Founded at MIT in 2003, J-PAL's faculty directors include Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, and Ben Olken. The organization has over 400 staff across various regions globally.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of five years pertinent experience, preferably within higher education and non-profit sectors.

Nice To Haves

• Strong background in research and grant administration, finance, budgeting, or related fields.
• Demonstrated proficiency in administrative roles.
• Professional experience either working for international organizations or collaborating with them.
• Professional experience working with Salesforce, SAP, Quickbooks, and Google Workspace.
