About The Position

The Senior Finance Manager provides a range of strategic Finance advice, analysis and support for key business areas/portfolios as assigned. Proactively manages senior relationships in order to provide seasoned and deep business insights, decision support and guidance and works closely with various stakeholders and team members as required. This role serves as a bank expert for a Finance function or discipline and/or portfolio or journey, accountable for leading or conducting expert financial analysis/research, reviews and/or audits to support functional goals/objectives. The scope may involve the integration of several key functional areas and/or business lines and requires a focus on longer-range issues, dealing with highly complex financial management, specialized accounting, taxation, audit, regulatory reporting, and operational issues. The Senior Finance Manager is a primary interface with Finance partners/leaders and external parties, serving as a source of expert advice to senior management in their field of specialty, and may lead teams of related specialists/experts. They advise on execution strategy and lead the development and deployment of functional programs or initiatives. This role solves unique and ambiguous problems with broad impact, typically overseeing standards, risk-based controls, and operating methods that have significant financial and operational impact. Innovation is required to develop new solutions, impacting the technical or functional direction and resource allocation of part of an enterprise function or business segment. The role operates within general policies and industry guidelines, engaging stakeholders to take action, influencing change, and framing information in a broader organizational context.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting or financial designation preferred
  • Communicating effectively with executive-level stakeholders
  • Master in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Interpreting large data sets and transforming them into clear, digestible communications

  • Effectively communicates relevant/meaningful recommendations on a range of finance management issues or related operational processes to all levels within the organization.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for LOB Finance area supported and provides guidance/advice and recommendations.
  • Identifies and develops key business performance measures or metrics.
  • Works to maximize shareholder value by developing key strategies/tactics and conducting business and/or financial analysis.
  • Leverages advanced data and analytics where possible.
  • Develops and/or assesses significant business cases/new initiatives.
  • Proactively partners and supports the business to develop business, financial, operational, or organizational strategy.

  • Monitors and analyzes financial performance, acting as custodians of cost.
  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies.
  • Ensures respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities.
  • Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements.
  • Participates in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert.
  • Conducts internal and external research projects.
  • Supports the development/delivery of presentations/communications to management or broader audience.
  • Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level.
  • Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements.
  • Identifies/recommends/supports the implementation of actions/remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues.
  • Actively manages relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts.
