About The Position

The Senior Finance Analyst is a newly created role within the TDS Tech Finance Team, supporting financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and cost management across vendor and personnel spend. The role provides analysis and insights to senior leaders to support profitability, efficiency, and long-term regional growth in a fast-paced environment. The Sr. Specialized Finance Analyst, TDS performs a variety of specialized finance functions in a particular finance area(s) with a high level of technical knowledge to give detailed and well-informed opinions of assigned business activities. Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area. Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area. Understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization. Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements. Acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others. Supports projects or workstreams within broader projects with moderate risk or complexity and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities, processes and functional programs. Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise. Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders. Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate. Impacts a range of finance programs across own and related teams. Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels. Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels. Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise. Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree
4+ years of finance experience at a global institution
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
Client service skills - the candidate must demonstrate the judgment and ability to closely partner with and advise senior and line managers and other stakeholders on cost management
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex regulatory business issues
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including by demonstrating excellent time management and planning skills, along with the ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and to collaborate with various teams.
A relationship builder with the ability to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulators and with business and functional partners at the firm.
Proficient in MS Office and the use of AI applications, Power BI and Power Query to drive automation of financial processes
Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise in own domain / field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas
Specializes in particular areas according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines
Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements ( e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)

Responsibilities

Support TDS Tech US performance targets and is responsible for partnering on financial planning and forecast, monthly and quarterly reporting of expenses and FTE
Provide analytics to drive segment discussions including TDS Tech TSLT presentation materials as well as external/public storytelling of the Segment
Monthly Board Reporting for the TDS Tech US Region relating to details on expense analytics and commentary
Coordination with partners to ensure proper analysis, challenge, and oversight of TDS Tech regional reporting
Business advisory and ad hoc support
Proactively identify cost opportunities, analyze data on material components of spending and provide constructive options to find efficiencies and savings enabling business decisions and management actions
Telling the financial cost story, linking the strategic priorities and accomplishments of the group while providing value-added advice to gain financial efficiencies while optimizing group effectiveness
Performance measurement, reporting, and metrics to improve transparency and establish cost management strategies (targets). Clear, effective, and timely reporting.
Provide input into the budgeting and forecasting process to ensure cost assumptions are accurate and realistic
Monitor actual vs forecasted costs and flag variances
Function as the cost management expert and lead on Finance change projects to improve systems, processes and outputs that relate to cost management
Manage the Performance Measurements, and Insights organization (people, expenses, other stakeholders including internal and external partners (e.g., regulators, auditors))
Analyze financial data and prepare reports on cost variances, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
Monitor and report on market trends and pricing strategies to help guide decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve targets while managing costs effectively.
Provides ongoing, proactive, specialized finance advice and counsel to business partners to ensure they are operating efficiently under applicable accounting rules and regulations
Communicates and meets regularly with partners to develop an in-depth understanding of their business and to provide accounting/ taxation insight, knowledge and expertise, such as improving accounting process flows or clarifying income and expense recognition practices
Recognizes, identifies and investigates business accounting issues that need attention, research as needed, offer specialized opinions based on research and knowledge and resolve problems
Responds to accounting-related requests on a timely basis and answers questions as needed.
Provides technical guidance and assist staff with most complex aspects of work as necessary
Resolves escalated issues and problems by conferring with peers, other internal departments, outside contacts and others as necessary
Ensures monthly recording of income, expense and other financial transactions is accurate and timely
Researches and determines proper accounting treatment for new products and services as needed and communicate complete, thorough and accurate accounting requirements; considers and explains risk management issues prior to implementation, such as determining how the accounting of new initiatives will be monitored and controlled
Performs a variety of activities related to month-end financial closing, which details the Bank's month-to-month financial condition, and/or completion of regulatory reports
Reviews monthly financial activity and ensures transactions are appropriately recorded in proper accounts, such as cost capitalizing vs. expensing. Researches discrepancies and makes corrections and updates as necessary
Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area
Ensures respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities
Consistently exercisse discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
