About The Position

The Amazon Finance Organization seeks a Senior Finance Analyst to deliver high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and decision support across a dynamic and fast-paced finance function. This position reports to a Finance Manager and operates without direct reports, focusing on rigorous analytical execution, controllership, and cross-functional business partnership. The successful candidate brings deep finance expertise, a track record of building and maintaining complex financial models, and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights. They will own core financial deliverables including variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and periodic close activities, while supporting OP1/OP2 planning cycles and contributing to process improvement initiatives. This role demands strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the discipline to operate with high accuracy at scale.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 3+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

Responsibilities

  • Compare actuals to plan and forecast; identify drivers and communicate findings clearly to finance and business stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting mechanism that surface performance trends and actionable insights.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations with accuracy and on schedule.
  • Respond to ad hoc financial requests with timely, accurate analysis to support decision-making across the business.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, scenario analysis, and investment evaluation.
  • Support the annual operating plan (OP1) and mid-year operating plan (OP2) processes.
  • Maintain short-range and long-range forecasts, incorporating business updates and flagging risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with program managers, operations, and technology teams to understand business context and translate it into accurate financial plans and reporting.
  • Serve as a key finance contact for assigned business areas, providing clear financial insights and supporting prioritization decisions.
  • Prepare well-structured financial narratives and presentations for finance leadership and business stakeholders.
