About The Position

Risk Consulting at AIG is about teamwork, utilizing resources, and working together to solve real-world problems and make a positive impact on clients' futures. The role of a Senior Field Risk Engineer is core to AIG's operations, serving as a risk management resource to clients and a leader within the global insurance organization. Field Risk Engineers identify and mitigate client business risks such as fire, flood, windstorm, and equipment breakdown. The role involves conducting property loss prevention surveys of varying sizes and scopes, building trust and cross-functional relationships through effective communication, and utilizing analytical skills to develop loss prevention solutions. Support is available from a Technical Integration Group and experienced team members for training, mentorship, and collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
• Minimum five (5) year of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experience
• Familiarity with commercial occupancies
• Strong communicator (both oral and written)
• Position is expected to travel and attend meetings at various office, field, and construction sites
• Ability to perform physical activities required for the position (i.e., be on feet and walking 8-10 hours a day, safely work at heights)
• Ability to understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards
• Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts and other access equipment
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform work in the outdoors
• Ability to wear safety equipment required for the position (hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection)
• Ability to safely work in a variety of occupationally hazardous locations
• Ability to type at a computer for several hours a day
• Ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle
• Possess at minimum of at least one year of driving experience with a valid U.S. driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation
• Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
• Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials

Responsibilities

• Travel (~25% overnight) to conduct property loss prevention surveys at commercial facilities
• Determine building construction and assess the impact of plastics on construction
• Analyze water supplies and sprinkler system demands to determine water supply and sprinkler system adequacy
• Identify occupancy hazards and assess the adequacy of their protection features
• Identify and assess the impact of external exposures on a facility
• Determine fire and natural catastrophe loss estimates for a facility
• Conduct consultative visits at customer facilities
• Conduct plan reviews
• Witness fire protection equipment testing
• Document survey results in a data-driven report writing application
• Mentor and train lesser experienced staff
