About The Position

Amynta Work Comp Solutions (AWCS), a division of the Amynta Group, is a Managing General Underwriter (MGU) partnering with retail agents and A-rated carriers to offer competitive solutions across various industries. We are seeking a Field Production Underwriter responsible for underwriting and marketing accounts within approved states/territories. This role is crucial to AWCS's production underwriting capabilities, requiring ownership of the book of business results, engagement in risk selection and customer service activities, and responsibility for developing, producing, and managing the agency distribution network for profitability.

Requirements

  • Intermediate proficiency in marketing and sales techniques, Worker’s Compensation product, agency management, sales acumen, pricing strategy and negotiations, risk tolerance and analytical tools.

  • Minimum of two years of related experience (Workers Compensation insurance underwriting, managing agencies and a book of business) required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, etc.) preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience generating production in assigned territory preferred.
  • Designations or coursework towards a designation (AU, CPCU, CIC, AINS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting and marketing accounts throughout approved states/territories.
  • Owning the results of their book of business and being compensated on annual and long-term profitability.
  • Maintaining a balance between distribution and risk selection to drive profitable growth.
  • Understanding how their book fits into the broader portfolio strategy.
  • Developing and maintaining agent/broker relationships.
  • Engaging in activities to generate submissions.
  • Maintaining and leading relationships with assigned agents.
  • Engaging in activities to close accounts.
  • Working with key internal stakeholders to develop and maintain product-specific business development plans.
  • Identifying, segmenting, detailing, and evaluating potential broker and agent prospects.
  • Executing business development plans to ensure targeted growth and hit ratios.
  • Educating the broker market on products to create demand and highlight competitive differentiation.
  • Illustrating the need for service-led products to grow the brand and facilitate new business placement.
  • Raising the profile of AWCS within the broker community.
  • Increasing the strength of relationships within the broker market to achieve consistent, strong producer relationships.
  • Tracking metrics around broker engagements, maintaining actions and follow-ups from visits.
  • Sharing client and broker feedback on product with key stakeholders.
  • Planning and engaging in regular virtual/face-to-face meetings to remain front-of-mind with brokers.
  • Acting as a contact point for broker queries and product education.
  • Engaging in appropriate communication via social media.
  • Developing and underwriting a profitable portfolio in support of business plans.
  • Structuring tailor-made solutions considering team underwriting parameters and exposures.
  • Leveraging underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing business.
  • Monitoring premiums, costs, and claims ratios per contract and taking corrective measures.
  • Evaluating appropriate risk premium considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure, and underwriting/general administration costs.
  • Complying with underwriting control standards for business written through delegated authority.
  • Engaging with all levels of leadership to solve problems.
  • Assisting in the development of internal and external materials.
  • Supporting business unit leadership with presentations and special projects.
