About The Position

This role is for a Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) with deep expertise in Network Communication Solutions (NCS) and Microcontroller Products. The position emphasizes Systems Engineering, embedded software tools, debuggers, and advanced C programming skills. The FAE will act as a technical leader, partnering with customers to ensure the successful design, integration, and deployment of Microchip's wired networking and microcontroller solutions, and to help them maximize the value of the embedded software ecosystem. This is a remote home office position, but the candidate must reside in the greater Portland, Oregon area to support local clients and sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in field applications engineering, embedded software development, or technical support, with a focus on microcontrollers and networking products.
  • Advanced proficiency in C programming for embedded systems, including experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), peripheral drivers, and protocol stacks.
  • Strong hands-on experience with embedded software development tools, IDEs, compilers, and hardware debuggers (e.g., JTAG, SWD).
  • Solid understanding of NCS products, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and related networking protocols.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of customer engagement and technical project management.
  • Willingness to travel as required (up to 10%).
