As a Senior Fiduciary Tax Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Tax Director and team with daily tax reporting and operational activities. You’ll help ensure that CIBC fulfills its fiduciary responsibilities as trustee and co-trustee of both revocable and irrevocable trusts, Agency and Individual Retirement accounts. From managing tax payments and filings to reviewing returns and working with tax vendors, your work will be essential to the accurate and timely delivery of trust-related tax obligations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3 or more years in tax or fiduciary trust tax roles.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, and systems like OneSource Trust Tax Insight, SEI SWP or EFPTS.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative in your approach to work.
  • Solid understanding of IRA and trust tax reporting
  • Experience working with tax vendors and regulatory bodies
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with precision
  • Clear communication and a proactive, accountable mindset

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, EA, JD, or master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily trust tax activities and filings.
  • Validate vendor-prepared tax documents and collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Managing the processing of fiduciary tax estimate and balance due payments, IRA/NRA tax withholding, and tax filings with the IRS and other authorities.
  • Serve as a point of contact for tax-related questions across CIBC teams and with outside agencies.
  • Manage travel logistics, expense reports, and assist in training less experienced staff.
