Within the Immigration Division, the Newcomer Integration Branch supports settlement and workforce integration initiatives while advancing fair and transparent pathways for internationally trained professionals seeking registration in Alberta. Reporting to the Fair Registration Practices Officer, this position plays a key role in supporting the implementation and oversight of Alberta's Fair Registration Practices Act [NT4.1](FRPA).

Requirements

  • University degree in Public Administration, Arts, or a related field. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Experience in a government, policy, regulatory, or professional regulatory environment.
  • Policy research, analysis, and development.
  • Interpretation and application of legislation, regulations, and policy.
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Project and issues management.
  • Preparing recommendations, reports, and briefing materials for senior decision-makers.
  • Building consensus through facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and analyzing emerging issues, trends, and best practices related to professional regulation and foreign qualification recognition.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures under the Fair Registration Practices Act.(FRPR)
  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative information to identify opportunities, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Developing briefing notes, reports, presentations, decision documents, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with regulatory bodies, government partners, and stakeholders.
  • Leading projects and initiatives related to policy development, stakeholder engagement, process improvement, and legislative implementation.
  • Supporting outreach, education, and continuous improvement activities to strengthen fair registration practices across Alberta.
