About The Position

The Senior Facilities Technician performs advanced skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of College facilities and building systems. This position diagnoses and resolves complex equipment and facility issues, performs preventive maintenance, and supports facility improvement projects to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Senior Facilities Technician may provide technical guidance to facilities staff and helps protect and maintain College assets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years working experience in facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting).
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer service-focused mindset.
  • Must have a valid NM Driver’s license.
  • Ability to use standard power and non-powered tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and use sound judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting.
  • Knowledge and use of all hand tools, power tools, and testing devices common to the trades listed above.
  • Ability to document work orders, maintain inventory records, and communicate with contractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of basic internet and email operations.
  • Detail-oriented.

  • Additional relevant trade certifications or licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Use various hand/power tools and volt readers to ensure power distribution to various units.
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, lighting, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Assist with all building issues, such as climate control, odors, smoke, damages, emergencies and repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance schedules within the required timeframe.
  • Assist facilities team with small repairs, cleaning common areas, moving furniture, setting up for events, and preparing outdoor spaces.
  • Work with contractors to solve any problems with service.
  • Assist with maintaining building security and immediately respond to building emergencies.
  • Replace filters, clean condenser coils, check drain lines, and lubricate motors for HVAC systems.
  • Clean vents throughout college buildings to prevent build up of dust and lint.
  • Clean work areas, organize tools, and ensure compliance with safety protocol.
  • Replace simple components like capacitors, contactors, thermostats, and belts.
  • Operate and monitor the building online system.
  • Maintain required service records and documentation of work performed.
  • Interact with staff and faculty and provide updates on service for heating and cooling issues.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the campus by performing all other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $21.10-$27.43/hour
