About The Position

This classification level performs daily work crew leader activities, assists in training employees, plans work for small, routine maintenance activities and work groups, and coordinates equipment and supplies with work activities. The position serves as a crew leader to lower-level staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work, monitoring performance, training staff on work methods and procedures, and participating in performance evaluations. It also involves performing manual labor, assisting internal customers, responding to emergency situations, monitoring contracted cleaning companies, maintaining logs and records, maintaining facilities and equipment, troubleshooting and performing routine repairs, monitoring supply inventory, coordinating with external vendors, processing shipping and receiving documents, and recommending supply purchases.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.
  • Two years of relevant maintenance experience
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a crew leader to lower level staff, which may include: prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring the performance of lower level staff; training staff on work methods and procedures; and, participating in performance evaluations.
  • Performs manual labor activities, which includes: emptying trash cans; gathering materials and equipment; placing materials and/or equipment in proper locations; sweeping; setting up furniture and/or equipment; digging; cleaning; moving furnishings; painting; and/or, performing other related tasks.
  • Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance, inquiries, and/or other related requests; and responds to emergency situations as required to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Monitors the activities of contracted cleaning companies to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Maintains a variety of logs, forms, and written communications of activities within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintains facilities, vehicles, and/or equipment utilized in daily activities; troubleshoots, maintains and performs routine repairs to equipment; monitors inventory of supplies.
  • Coordinates activities with external vendors who are responsible for performing maintenance and/or custodial activities on behalf of the District.
  • Processes shipping and receiving receipts, purchase orders, and bills of ladings.
  • Monitors supplies and inventory to ensure appropriate levels for the performance of facilities and maintenance support activities; recommends the purchase of supplies and inventory.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
