Caterpillar Inc.•Sanford, NC
•$147,760 - $221,640•Onsite

About The Position

Caterpillar is developing a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina, to expand production capacity for compact track loaders and telehandlers. The modern, technology-enabled operation is expected to incorporate automation, robotics, digital production systems and integrated logistics capabilities to enhance safety, quality and operational performance. Employees will help build the products our customers rely on while developing skills in advanced manufacturing and supporting the continued growth of Caterpillar’s Cat Compact℠ business. Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Facilities Project Engineer in Sanford, North Carolina, to lead the integration and delivery of the facility systems required to bring a new advanced manufacturing site safely from design through production readiness. The role will focus on campus construction and facilities-related capital projects to support operations. This role coordinates electrical, mechanical, civil, building-control, and manufacturing interfaces while managing integrated scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk. You will work within the Facilities Engineering Team, which provides technical expertise and project leadership for facilities-related initiatives. You will manage system interfaces and dependencies, resolve ownership gaps, and ensure that design and execution decisions support the facility. You may bring deep expertise in one engineering discipline, but you must be able to challenge assumptions, evaluate trade-offs, and make sound decisions across disciplines. You will manage facilities related initiatives in areas such as warehouse and distribution, fabrication, assembly, office, and other general facility-level capital investments. You will partner with business leaders, engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and service providers to deliver safe, timely, and financially responsible results.

  • Experience with facility planning, design, construction, commissioning, project delivery, and capital investment processes.
  • Experience coordinating consultants, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated judgment integrating electrical, mechanical, and civil infrastructure scopes and resolving dependencies across an industrial facility.
