About The Position

The City of Brentwood is seeking a dependable, skilled, and experienced Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain City buildings, facilities, and grounds. This is a hands-on maintenance position with a variety of work that helps keep City facilities safe, functional, and operating efficiently. Work includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, general building repairs, inspections, work order response, and support for projects and contractor coordination. This role also helps identify repair needs, safety concerns, and deferred maintenance items and supports decisions about how repair work should move forward. Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED) required
  • 2 years of building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, mechanical repair, or closely related experience
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and general maintenance equipment is required
  • A valid Tennessee Driver’s License is required
  • Selected candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on City buildings, facilities, and grounds.
  • Helps identify, troubleshoot, and correct issues involving HVAC components, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, doors, locks, lighting, ceilings, walls, flooring, roofs, gutters, generators, irrigation systems, exhaust systems, and other building features and systems.
  • Completes general building repair and upkeep tasks such as painting, drywall patching, caulking, replacing ceiling tiles, repairing hardware, adjusting doors, changing filters, unclogging drains and toilets, replacing fixtures, and similar maintenance tasks.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment to identify wear, damage, safety concerns, deferred maintenance items, and needed repairs.
  • Responds to work orders and service requests in a timely manner and documents labor, materials, and completion status.
  • Communicates with the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator and affected departments regarding repair needs, work progress, material needs, and job completion.
  • Supports facility inspections, contractor coordination, and special projects, including supporting contractors, vendors, and inspectors working at City facilities.
  • Evaluates repair needs and helps determine whether work should be completed in-house or referred to an outside contractor.
  • Maintains tools, equipment, supplies, and storage areas in safe working order and supports exterior facility upkeep as assigned.
