About The Position

Leidos has an opening for a Senior Facilities Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The primary focus of this group is understanding commercial, strategic, and heavy industrial facilities, as well as the interoperability of systems managed by Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Building Management Systems (BMS). The ideal candidate will bring a creative yet disciplined approach to identifying and solving complex challenges involving interconnected facility systems. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, sound engineering judgment, and a commitment to delivering thorough, high-quality work. The selected candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel conducting strategic and critical facility analysis. Work is performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment within a government SCIF facility.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Candidate must possess an active and in-scope TS/SCI clearance and willingness/ability to obtain a polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience. Relevant work experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Expert knowledge of industry practices, advanced techniques, and solutions within the facilities engineering discipline, with the ability to develop new standards, processes, and solutions.
  • Experience with the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of facility mechanical, electrical, life-safety, and control systems in large commercial, government, production-related, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with facility planning, operations, maintenance, security, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience with the specification, installation, maintenance, and operation of HVAC, electrical power, security, Building Management Systems (BMS), and/or Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
  • Experience interpreting and applying sequences of operation for utility equipment, OEM manuals, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and electrical and HVAC schematics.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting digital and hard-copy engineering, construction, and design documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief and interact with personnel at all levels, including Senior Officials.

Nice To Haves

  • Facility planning experience, including servicing and installing utility equipment in industrial environments.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and practices.
  • Experience with Industrial HVAC systems, Central Plant Utilities, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Industrial Process systems, Water/Wastewater facilities, Data Centers, Cogeneration Plants, or Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power (CCHP) systems.
  • Fire Protection Engineering degree or related professional certifications.
  • Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards, including the ability to perform design calculations and engineering assessments.
  • Knowledge of fire protection system integration with Building Control Systems (BCS) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification.
  • Military, intelligence community, or defense-related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically integrate all-source intelligence, geotechnical data, topographical data, facility expertise, and facility design and maintenance principles to characterize heavy industrial facility missions and physical configurations.
  • Assess facility layouts, physical structures, mission systems, support systems, and corresponding vulnerabilities through 3D modeling, functional engineering modeling, and detailed infrastructure analysis.
  • Provide practical, hands-on guidance and engineering judgment related to facility infrastructure design, specification, and installation throughout the characterization process.
  • Produce accurate intelligence estimates and customer-directed products based on engineering analysis and facility assessments.
  • Communicate technical findings effectively through written products, briefings, and discussions with personnel at all levels, including Senior Officials.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the technical domain.

Benefits

  • Pay Range $116,350.00 - $210,325.00
