About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position involves work that has a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting national security. The Senior Evolved Strategic Systems (ESS) Program Systems Integration Engineer will join a Systems Engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. The role involves supporting Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. The Systems Integration Engineer will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, and members of the USAF. The role will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force’s Space and Missiles System Center. This support is for the Air Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for the nation’s warfighters. The team seeks technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or related technical field
  • 8+ years’ engineering experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in Systems Engineering, such as requirements and technical baseline development, test planning and integration, verification, and validation
  • Experience developing or managing requirements or Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for complex systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Due to security requirements, work is required to be on-site in a secure facility

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science, or related technical field
  • Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T terminal programs
  • Experience working with military and DoD civilians
  • Experience with ground and airborne systems, such as terminals and networks
  • Knowledge and experience in Agile Development and collaboration tools (Jira/Confluence)
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, INCOSE CSEP / ESEP / ASEP)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integration strategies and processes to successfully integrate satellite communication systems, segments (Ground, Space, Crypto, Terminals), subsystems, elements, and components; manage the technical baselines among different stakeholders
  • Perform analysis of the systems requirements that define the technical baseline and verification of the technical baseline
  • Apply Digital Engineering methods and modeling strategies (i.e. Digital twins) to support integration and test activities
  • Work with Government and contractor personnel to close gaps of customer requirements among the programs; support major requirements reviews, design reviews, and other associated meetings
  • Lead and support Government/Contractor Working Group meetings—by developing briefings, leading discussion, and writing minutes—to address/resolve risks, issues, and action items
  • Review proposed changes to the technical baseline for impacts to enterprise capabilities and to cross-stakeholder integration concerns
  • Define and deliver alternative of solutions to address different integration challenges; manage schedule impact and overall delivery of products
  • Facilitate review of program documents by providing comments, compiling other reviewer comments, and working with contractor to adjudicate the comments.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to assess technical issues and to prepare briefings to U.S. Space Force program office personnel and other stakeholders; provide courses of actions to support Government decisions
  • Support management of risks, issues, interdependencies, identifying schedule disconnects and conflicts, developing action plans for resolution, and assisting the Government in executing selected solutions
