About The Position

Clark Construction is seeking a highly analytical and driven Senior Construction Estimator to lead complex preconstruction lifecycles. The role leads cost modeling, hard bids, and design-build proposals for high-profile regional projects, collaborating with trade partners to develop precise, competitive, and value-engineered estimates. The position also partners with project managers and superintendents to transition successful bids into operations and supports the development of project engineers and junior estimators. The role is primarily based in a professional office, with occasional travel to other locations, including active construction sites. The work involves prolonged desk-based analysis and computer work, as well as movement around the office and construction sites. The position requires flexibility for extended hours and responsiveness to time-sensitive matters or emergencies beyond regular working hours. A pre-employment drug fitness-for-duty screening and random quarterly screenings are required. Candidates must be able to pass standard federal background screenings to access certain project sites.

Requirements

5 to 10+ years of dedicated estimating experience.
Experience estimating large-scale projects of $50M or more across sectors such as multi-family residential, healthcare, higher education, or federal infrastructure.
Comprehensive knowledge of regional trade partners, labor dynamics, and building regulations in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Mastery of modern digital construction workflows and the following tools: Beck DESTINI Estimator, Building Connected, Togal.AI, Bluebeam, and AGTEK Earthwork.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
Ability to pass standard federal background screenings for access to local government, secure agency, and institutional project sites.

Flexibility to work extended hours, particularly during critical project phases or client deadlines, and to respond to time-sensitive business needs or emergencies outside regular working hours.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug fitness-for-duty screening and participation in random quarterly drug fitness-for-duty testing.

Responsibilities

Lead conceptual, schematic, design-development, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) estimates for large-scale commercial developments.
Develop comprehensive scopes of work, lead trade leveling sessions, and ensure total coverage on bid days.
Identify cost-effective design alternatives consistent with architectural intent and local code restrictions.
Monitor regional commodity fluctuations, local labor availability, and urban logistical challenges in dense DC corridors.
Partner with Clark Project Managers and Superintendents to transition winning bids into the operations phase.
Provide guidance, software training, and professional development support to project engineers and junior estimators.
