About The Position

Tutor Perini Building Corp is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our office in Henderson, NV. As a Senior Estimator at Tutor Perini Building Corp, reporting to the Vice President Preconstruction, you will have the opportunity to coordinate with other Estimators in the assignment of project-related responsibilities from conceptual estimating to preparation of GMPs. You will quantify, analyze, and disseminate the detailed project program to the project estimating team during a project kick-off meeting. You will review, interpret, quantify, and accurately estimate costs in accordance with project documents, and identify and mitigate project-related risks through strategic buyout and budget contingencies. You will solicit, collect, and critically analyze Subcontractor/Vendor budgets, bids, or quotations associated with assigned projects or packages. You will also review and verify the Scope of Work and pricing of other project team members when acting as the lead estimator. The Senior Estimator presents the project scope of work, estimated costs, risks, and opportunities to executive management during the final review of assigned estimates and participates in the presentation of proposals, budgets, etc., to clients and prospective clients. You will coordinate the delivery of appropriate project files for assigned projects to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting. You will participate and coordinate the project estimating team in the buyout process with operations and complete all required paperwork for bids or proposals. The Senior Estimator provides support to the Project Operations Team for Change Order estimating, extended buyout after Contract or turnover to Operations Team, and other estimating support as required. You will also assist in the development, training, coaching, and orientation of new estimators. Additionally, you will visit Tutor Perini Building Corp. project sites as frequently as practical to observe construction operations and become familiar with jobsite logistics, means and methods, and Operations personnel. You will be involved in preconstruction Training Programs, becoming proficient in all aspects of preconstruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering or construction management or similar from an accredited institution and 8+ years of relevant estimating, project management and / or construction experience
  • 5 or more years’ experience estimating for projects in buildings sector
  • Previous estimating experience on projects between $50-$100M in value
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively solicit and work with individual project owner’s representatives, material suppliers and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations
  • Capable of effectively working within a cohesive estimating team to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals and conclude efforts during team reviews on major projects
  • Previous experience in alternative delivery methods such as design/build
  • Experienced in estimating software tools On-Center and Timberline or similar

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the other Estimators in the assignment of project related responsibilities from conceptual estimating to preparation of GMP’s
  • Quantify, analyze, and disseminate, to project estimating team, the detailed project program (work breakdown structure, room counts, functions, areas, etc.) during a project kick-off meeting
  • Review, interpret, quantify, and accurately estimates cost in accordance with the project documents
  • Identify and mitigate project related risk through strategic buyout and budget contingencies
  • Solicit, collect and critically analyze Subcontractor/Vendor budgets, bids or quotations associated with assigned projects or packages
  • Review and verify Scope of Work and pricing (Subcontractor Analysis Sheets) of other project team members when acting as the project lead estimator
  • Presents the project scope of work, estimated costs, risks and opportunities to executive management during the final review of assigned estimates
  • Participate in the presentation of proposals, budgets, etc. to clients and prospective clients
  • Coordinate the delivery of appropriate project files for assigned projects to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda and Checklist
  • Participate and coordinate participation of project estimating team in the buyout process with operations
  • Complete all required paperwork for bids or proposals (such as bid forms, bonding requirements, etc.)
  • Provides support to Project Operations Team for Change Order estimating, extended buyout after Contract or turnover to Operations Team and other estimating support as required
  • Assists in development training, coaching, and orientation of new estimators
  • Visit Tutor Perini Building Corp. project sites as frequently as practical to observe construction operations at various phases and become familiar with jobsite logistics, means and methods, and Operations personnel
  • Be involved in preconstruction Training Programs, becoming proficient in all aspects of preconstruction
