About The Position

The Korte Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Preconstruction Services Department in St. Louis, MO or Highland, IL. This person will be responsible for providing conceptual and final estimates for our nationwide projects while attaining an appropriate profit margin. The ideal candidate will have a solid history in a similar position with documented successes. Korte estimators are vital contributors to our business. Estimators perform valuable, important work and through exposure to many, different projects learn many facets of the construction field. The work is fast paced – estimators work on 10 to 15 projects per year. Most of our projects are design-build giving our estimators the opportunity to apply problem solving and team building skills. Since we work all across the United States, our estimators gain exposure to different construction methods, local conditions and practices.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of construction building methods
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and time management skills
  • Professional in actions and appearance
  • Thorough and detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints
  • Effective interactions with project partners, subcontractors and vendors
  • Self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills
  • Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in bidding commercial and industrial construction projects

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Destini-Estimator, Pantera and Bluebeam take off is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategy with project team to determine proposal approach.
  • Read and interpret project request for proposal documents and preliminary plans to determine detailed and comprehensive quantity surveys
  • Obtain accurate take off and pricing for all materials, labor and equipment
  • Perform conceptual estimating from preliminary project parameters
  • Prepare project cost analysis including all material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs
  • Understand timelines and applicable project deadlines
  • Maintain current information on products, vendors, subcontractors and government requirements
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings
  • Travel to project sites to investigate field conditions and meet with local trade contractors
