Senior Estimator - Life Sciences Construction
About The Position
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to support large-scale construction projects and programs, with a focus on life sciences construction. The role develops and presents estimates and cost plans from concept through detailed design, including program-level estimates across multiple geographic regions. It also involves coordinating and supervising support staff, evaluating design changes and technologies, analyzing cost information from completed projects, and assessing value engineering options. The position supports client preconstruction and estimating teams through training, tools, leadership presentations, and life cycle costing models. SOX control responsibilities may apply where relevant. On-site presence and requirements may change depending on client needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a construction-related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a construction cost management role, such as Cost Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Cost Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Cost Controls.
- Experience providing conceptual estimating services and/or pre-construction services at a construction management or related firm.
- Experience supporting large-scale construction projects and programs.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as value management and value engineering.
- Excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop cost plans and estimates from concept through detailed design across multiple geographic regions, working with internal and external staff.
- Deliver and present updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.
- Provide program-level estimates for specific scopes of work.
- Coordinate, manage, and supervise the work of support staff.
- Review proposed design changes and new technologies, and prepare estimates within appropriate accuracy levels.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize cost information from completed projects to help drive cost model trends.
- Assess the cost effectiveness of alternate products and value engineering ideas at a program level.
- Support training for Development and external Estimating teams on new project estimating tools and templates.
- Support preparation of leadership presentations for the client’s Preconstruction and Estimating team.
- Deliver Life Cycle Costing models.
- Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities.
