About The Position

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is seeking an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to lead the initiative of developing and delivering current and next generation equipment for their world-class delivery stations. This role involves driving end-to-end equipment development, collaborating with global vendors to enhance their design and manufacturing capabilities, and implementing internal and external equipment quality control mechanisms. The position requires a hands-on leader with experience in areas such as Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Manufacturing/Mechanical Plant Engineering, or First Article Inspection (FAIR). The engineer will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for last mile delivery systems. Success in this role depends on the ability to influence and work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies, including Worldwide (WW) Engineering and Design, WW Tech SME, Last Mile Delivery and Tech, and Operations. The engineer will manage large, complex initiatives and advocate for the customer to develop the next generation of AMZL delivery stations. The role operates within a team focused on medium and long-term innovation of process infrastructure, equipment, and standards for both new and existing delivery stations, offering challenges, learning opportunities, and high-impact projects in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
  • Experience in management of engineering design projects
  • Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
  • Experience with design-in-safety

Responsibilities

  • Act as the WW technical expert for equipment development, including leading equipment testing and validation.
  • Lead idea generation for innovative design/equipment solutions to existing operational problems.
  • Create documentation for equipment solutions, such as design definitions, quality specifications, assembly instructions, and equipment design standards.
  • Generate structured plans to transition innovative equipment design solutions from ideas to assessment, pilot, and expansion.
  • Own and deliver against plans, providing network reporting, financial approval, and leadership approval for all stages of program progression.
  • Act as a technical expert in the area of ownership, providing technical expertise to other Engineering teams and technical challenge to suppliers and partners.
  • Build large-scale business proposals based on innovation designs for WW Ops Engineering, often with ambiguity; collaborate with WHS, Planning, Launch, Procurement, Finance, HR, external partners, and product teams to ensure project completion on time and within budget.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following through with requests and ensuring needs are met accurately and immediately.
  • Own internal process innovations across the Engineering Org, including road-mapping and planning for the given area of responsibility and ensuring roadmap delivery.
  • Coordinate with Tech/Software teams, driving the operational execution of software enhancements and ensuring software supports physical design/process innovations.
  • Up to 50% regional and WW travel depending on business needs.
