About The Position

The Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professional / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Level II is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and subject matter expertise for environmental, health, and safety programs supporting a complex federal facility. This position works to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, occupational safety requirements, contract requirements, and industry best practices while promoting a culture of safety, risk awareness, and continuous improvement. The Senior EHS Professional serves as a trusted advisor to management and personnel and supports the development, implementation, and enhancement of comprehensive EHS programs.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience supporting environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental compliance, or related programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations, workplace safety requirements, risk management principles, and compliance programs.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, assessments, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or managing environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports, technical documentation, corrective action plans, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience supporting environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting projects or programs governed by EM 385-1-1, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
  • EM 385-1-1 training, certification, or demonstrated experience implementing EM 385-1-1 safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting federal government facilities contracts.
  • Experience supporting industrial, campus-style, mission-critical, training, or large institutional environments.
  • Experience supporting hazardous materials management, environmental permitting, sustainability programs, or regulatory reporting activities.
  • Experience developing and managing comprehensive EHS management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for environmental, health, and safety programs supporting facility operations and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and contract-specific environmental and safety requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, assessments, and program reviews to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, environmental events, and property damage incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze safety and environmental performance data and prepare reports, trend analyses, and performance metrics.
  • Support environmental compliance programs, including waste management, hazardous materials management, pollution prevention, and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to management, supervisors, and employees regarding EHS requirements and best practices.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, response planning, and business continuity activities.
  • Support customer inspections, regulatory reviews, audits, and assessments.
  • Promote employee engagement, training, and awareness programs related to environmental stewardship and workplace safety.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance, environmental compliance, and operational effectiveness.
