About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer/Senior Project Manager for their Parsippany, NJ office. This senior professional will be responsible for performing various environmental tasks to support environmental remediation projects. Key duties include developing long-term remedial solutions and strategies to mitigate environmental risks. The projects are primarily located in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, with support also provided to other Dewberry offices across the U.S. Responsibilities encompass site/remedial investigations, remedial project design, and the implementation of remedial actions as directed by regulatory agencies or the company. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, client-focused, and capable of independent work while also supporting a team of engineers, scientists, and field personnel. The role involves diverse tasks, from coordinating field inspections and soil/groundwater sampling to technical work requiring strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Adobe Acrobat. Current OSHA 40-hour certification and/or other applicable certifications are preferred, as is New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) status.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related degree.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience.
  • PE license is required
  • OSHA 40-hour certification with a current 8-hour annual refresher course certification
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong hydrogeological technical skills alongside a proven track record of securing new clients and leading successful business development initiatives
  • Conduct advanced evaluations of subsurface soil and rock strata to characterize aquifer properties and predict pollutant movement or groundwater flow
  • Capacity to evaluate complex data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, subconsultants, and county/agency review staff.
  • Composes technical reports, memoranda, and other written communication.
  • Handles multiple concurrent projects.
  • Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office software
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required

  • New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) a plus
  • New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) preferred.
  • Current OSHA 40-hour certification and/or other applicable certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NJDEP, NYSDEC, NYCDEP and/or PADEP requirements a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff and management team to develop strategic direction for site investigation/remediation and implementation of environmental-related projects and/or litigation support.
  • Negotiations with regulatory agencies and management of compliance with applicable orders, agency directives, and permits.
  • Assigns tasks to engineers, scientists, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Interacts with the client in the field, at meetings, and on conference calls.
  • Plans and coordinates all aspects of work.
  • Prepares and manages scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Leads and assists with proposals.
  • Manages and meets budgets.
  • Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Other duties as required.
