Requirements

  • Applicant must submit a resume to be considered for this position.
  • Must be a current Entry Level Full Time, Part Time or Seasonal Entertainment Technician at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and be willing to be trained to operate vans, trucks (non-CDL), high reach, forklifts, etc.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a theme park/theatrical/event environment with specific training, functional operation/implementation and repair preferred in at least two of the following areas: Lighting, Staging, Video, Audio, Equipment Repair (moving lights, pumps, motors, fixtures, pneumatics), Rigging, Carpentry, Scenic Artistry, Special Effects as a technician.
  • Knowledge of technical theater, including but not limited to: theatrical rigging, theater safety, audio and lighting systems, special effects, video, theatrical scenery and drapery, set decorating, scenic and prop construction, maintenance and repair.
  • Timeline of experience must be detailed on resume to be considered for this position.
  • Must be willing to accept ownership of assigned projects, and be able to communicate updates and needs in an effective manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally via headset
  • Must be comfortable operating computers and computerized control systems used in theatrical performances
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule with no set days off including early mornings/days/evenings/late nights/overnights/weekends/holidays.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Hands on capability to operate technical equipment and troubleshoot technical problems.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in Theatre or related discipline (preferred but not required) or equivalent related certification or documentation of experience.
  • Ability to work at a height of 80 feet is preferred
  • valid driver license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Capable of consistently performing all assignments and responsibilities as outlined for an Entertainment technician, including but not limited to; warehouse & event prep, stagehand, spotlight operator, light board operator, audio operator; special effects; assisting with puppets, costume dressing changes, etc.
  • Assist with the install, logistics, operation and strike of all Entertainment shows and events.
  • Provide theatrical support assistance to outside vendors/contractors.
  • Design work (plots, drafting, installation, programming, etc) in area of expertise for temporary shows and events, as required.
  • Under the guidance of leadership, independently spearhead projects and lead teams toward accurate and timely results as needed/required, regardless of discipline.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures, Draft documents or process layouts that others may use for troubleshooting
  • Draft schematics or floor layouts of venue or events; assist with large-scale project planning
  • Work with Production team, outside contractors and vendors during show or project installation, and rehearsals or event.
  • Stay active on current technology within your specialty and seek out opportunities to share knowledge with other ambassadors
  • Assist with install, show operation and strike for all Entertainment Department shows and events
  • Perform daily operational duties to assist the department to include covering open positions, communicating show changes, schedule changes and other details and sharing information with co-workers and management.
  • Troubleshoot needed maintenance/make repairs on scenic elements, sound system or lighting system, lighting fixtures or other technical components, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality standards, through assigned tasks, special events and show positions.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, display respect for others, perform all duties with a positive attitude and demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, be willing to increase their personal development, and positively influence employees and vendors/contractors.
  • Maintain Park cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards through all assigned tasks.
  • Responsible for sending out daily, weekly and /or monthly updates as assigned
  • Responsible for heading up Projects and leading crews as necessary in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Provide technical support and service for all departmental needs and perform other functions as directed by management for the good of the Department and Park.
