Requirements

Associate degree in Construction Technology, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology from a technical college or institution. Significant relevant experience in a similar operation or within the firm may offset the educational requirement.
Must be familiar with technical measurement, surveying, and reading and interpreting construction plans.
Works independently in the field with oversight by the engineer of record and project manager.
Has authority to stop construction jobs if it appears contractors are deviating from design or materials or methods specified.
Able to perform observation duties for construction projects, recording data, taking measurements, and verify activities & quantities in relation to plan and specification documents.
Accurate in verbal and written communication.
Able to effectively communicate information to co-workers and contractors.

More extensive survey or CAD experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Provide support to the engineering functions of the firm.
Be knowledgeable of methods used in taking field measurements, observing construction projects, and generally provides field and office technical “hands-on” activities to carry out the firm’s work.
Understand and interpret drawings, plans, details, and specifications in the field on construction projects.
Perform construction observation and documentation of work in progress.
Keep daily records of quantities and activities.
Verify material specifications.
Ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Utilize survey equipment, such as GPS, optical or laser level, and hand tools, such as measuring rod and tape for field measurements for record drawings and verifying compliance to plan.
Review drawings or specifications as part of our QC/QA program.
Maintain equipment used in the field and in the office.
Assist with copying, making plan sets, filing, library maintenance, or other duties as assigned.
Maintain client confidentiality of all project work.
