About The Position

KLA is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to be directly involved in building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing complex semiconductor systems. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with engineers to turn designs into functioning hardware and continuously improve the reliability and performance of our equipment. The ideal candidate takes pride in figuring things out and digging into the details to solve problems.

Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years of semiconductor industry experience.
  • Strong background supporting semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
  • Experience with cleanroom and contamination control practices.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with control systems and equipment interlocks.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and system integration.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment including DVMs and clamp-on amp meters.
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting equipment from semiconductor manufacturing industries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and integrate semiconductor capital equipment from the ground up, working alongside mechanical, electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Install vacuum hardware, wire electrical systems, bring up controls, and execute test procedures.
  • Diagnose failures and support equipment installations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, vacuum, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system issues.
  • Assemble and maintain ultra-high vacuum chambers, pumps, gauges, valves, and gas delivery hardware.
  • Perform helium leak testing and vacuum qualification activities.
  • Wire electrical cabinets, control systems, sensors, interlocks, and cable assemblies.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering experiments, upgrades, and production systems.
  • Use diagnostic equipment such as DVMs, clamp-on amp meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Contribute to root-cause investigations and corrective action efforts.
  • Track down intermittent electrical problems, resolve vacuum leaks, and help bring newly integrated systems online.
