About The Position

Schnabel is seeking a motivated Senior Engineering Technician to join their growing practice to support construction phase work on data center sites across the United States. This position is ideal for candidates interested in the construction of major infrastructure projects and willing to relocate based on project site locations. The role requires travel to project sites, primarily in the eastern or central United States, with potential project durations up to 2 years. This position is eligible for overtime pay at 1.5 times the normal hourly rate, with pay for travel and mileage in accordance with GSA and IRS rates, and lodging accommodations near project sites.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of construction technician experience
  • Interest in working outdoors on construction sites
  • High School degree
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail and well-organized
  • Must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside
  • Must hold a current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record to operate company or personal vehicles for work-related travel.
  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Field observation and documentation of construction activities including, but not limited to, earthwork, foundation and retaining wall construction.
  • Review testing performed by others of construction materials including, but not limited to, soil, concrete, grout and reinforcing steel.
  • Preparation of reports documenting observations and test results.
  • Communication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results.
