About The Position

This role will provide both classroom and shipboard practical maintenance training and technical assistance on galley, scullery, and laundry equipment on all classes of Surface ships within the Pacific Fleet operating area. The Senior Engineering Technician Mechanical (MSET) will provide technical support as required to ships force for the assessment, fault isolation, repair, and final adjustment of specific items, systems, and equipment and conduct functional checks and operational tests of those systems onboard ship. This role supervises others and manages one or more multiple jobs, applying a comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. The position is responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and the ability to provide work direction to others. The technician performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks, develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. They will also schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management, and perform duties outside of their specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university and at least 12 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree at least 2 additional years of technical experience will suffice.
  • At least 12 years’ experience in the operations, repair, and maintenance of hull, mechanical, and electrical or electronic equipment and systems of U.S. Naval ships is required.
  • At least 4 years of experience directing or supervising a workforce of less skilled technical personnel in the performance of repair and maintenance functions.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in administration of the Navy 3-M and supply system.
  • Knowledge of Quality of Life Equipment (EQOL), shipboard practical maintenance training and technical assistance on galley, scullery, and laundry equipment.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Air conditioning & Refrigeration (AC&R) experience.
