About The Position

The Senior Engineering Supervisor at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) plays a critical role in driving technical excellence and operational performance across complex manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for leading and developing a high performing team of technicians and/or engineers who support manufacturing operations through new product introductions, process optimization, and sustained manufacturing readiness—while ensuring adherence to Medtronic’s quality systems, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement standards. The MECC serves as a hub of deep technical expertise, partnering closely with site operations, R&D, Quality, and global stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant manufacturing solutions. In this role, the Senior Engineering Supervisor brings both strong people leadership and hands on technical credibility, balancing strategic priorities with day to day execution. Success in this position requires the ability to manage complexity, influence across functions, and proactively identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or developing energy‑based technologies and/or critical components within a medical device manufacturing environment
  • Technical background in component‑level manufacturing (e.g., energy systems, subsystems, enabling technologies) vs. finished device assembly
  • Prior leadership experience in a center‑of‑excellence or shared services model supporting multiple sites or platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of GMP/QSR, CAPA, change control, and process validations in regulated manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineers while remaining hands‑on with technical problem solving and risk mitigation
  • Experience partnering cross‑functionally with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain on NPI or technology scale‑up efforts

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
  • May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
  • Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
  • Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
