About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC). This role involves managing large government projects, defining project scope, schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables. The position requires documenting project baselines, decomposing work activities, identifying resource requirements, and coordinating project staff. The Senior Engineering Project Manager will perform ongoing reviews of project status, escalate issues, and notify management of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls. Risk identification and mitigation, managing change orders, and assisting with Request for Proposals (RFPs) are also key responsibilities. The role includes overseeing status reporting, interfacing with customers, mentoring other project managers, and leading process improvements within the Project Operations Group (POG).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM required
  • 8+ years of experience in project management; engineering project management preferred
  • Experience working with project management methodology such as Catalyst including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices
  • Experience working with client vision, business objectives, and critical success factors
  • Experience working with delivery assurance principles and procedures
  • Experience working with techniques and approaches related to architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Manage large government projects preparing and defining the project scope of work, detailed schedules, budgets, objectives, and deliverables for projects involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Document the baseline for engineering projects and decompose complex work activities into manageable components.
  • Identify project resource requirements and coordinate directly and indirectly with project staff to ensure successful completion of the project.
  • Organize project team members to ensure communication and understanding of scope, timelines, assignments, and objectives.
  • Participate in work as applicable.
  • Perform on-going review of project status and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Notify management team early of potential technical challenges, schedule delays, and budget overages or shortfalls.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Recommend and implement risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate.
  • Interface with project staff and stakeholders to manage and assess change orders in each project, which may involve changes to project scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Assist and/or lead detailed reviews of Request of Proposals (RFP).
  • Assist and/or lead a team to develop technical elements, schedule, and price estimates for proposal submission.
  • Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly status reporting on project performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
  • Interface with the customer providing inputs to technical presentations, telecoms, and formal reviews.
  • Mentor other project managers on best practices within the Project Operations Group (POG) and lead Community of Practice.
  • Create and lead new and/or modified POG processes, tools, procedures, and best practices and provides solutions to complex issues within the organization.
  • Challenge organizational processes that do not contribute to value delivery, and illustrate better process alternatives.
