Senior Engineering Manager, OCI Object Storage
About The Position
Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team builds large-scale Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies in a distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. The Object Storage Service team is seeking a hands-on Senior Manager to help advance the service through its next development phase, solving complex challenges in distributed systems, large-scale storage, and highly available services. The service is growing quickly and delivering enterprise-class features for demanding customer workloads. The role owns solutions to scale and optimize Object Storage components, improve customer experience and workload performance, and deliver a prioritized product and engineering roadmap. The manager sets team expectations and goals, coordinates cross-organizational dependencies, coaches engineers in modern software practices, ensures high-quality delivery, and leads operational improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 10 years of software development experience.
- More than 5 years managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Proven success leading complex, large-scale distributed systems in mission-critical environments.
- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong technical presence and ability to present forward-looking strategies to executives and align diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive leadership in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, driving continuous improvement with measurable results.
Responsibilities
- Own and develop solutions to scale and optimize Object Storage service components, enhancing customer experience and workload performance.
- Set and communicate individual expectations and team goals aligned with broader organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage cross-organizational dependencies.
- Model best practices and coach team members in modern software engineering methodologies.
- Develop a prioritized roadmap for products, features, and engineering requests.
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of roadmap commitments.
- Participate in operational initiatives and lead continuous-improvement efforts.
